The Traveling wearables grew out of B.Y.O.D. Sarah Dalieden, myself and other artists were commissioned by VAM! (Visual Arts Milwaukee) to expand on the visual qualities of B.Y.O.D. in order to promote their organization. The end result was what you see here, a group of artists, all clothed in the same color, traveling together. Incredibly simple, amazingly effective. I only participated in three of these events before relocating to New Mexico, I am not sure how many more took place. Regardless, the Traveling Wearables made for a fun summer of 2001 in Milwaukee.

It all started with pink at the Lakefront Festival

We attracted a lot of attention during green by utilizing public transportation. This group attended an art opening, and ended the evening by playing a game of human checkers, green vs. black, on the checkerboard that had been painted in the parking lot of the gallery.

Blue went beyond just the connection of color, we were also connected physically. Each participant wore blue clothes that were covered by one half of a snap. We could snap to each other or break off this connection at will. This event took place in conjunction with VAM! in Riverwest featuring the four seperate buildings of the Guerrilla Galleries.

WHO ARE THEY?
They include anybody who wants to be involved, it's always changing.  But I'd like to mention some of the people who've been very active:  Sara Daleiden, Sarah Kamsler, Harvey Opgenorth, Nathan Page, Brooke Maroldi, Amee Lapke, Cathy Fricano, Kathryn Hunt, Renato Umali, George Sheppard, Mike Brenner, Shawn Stephany and Anna Opgenorth.
